What Is Xtreme Save Technology?
Xtreme Save is Midea's flagship energy-saving technology, pairing an advanced DC inverter compressor with the iECO algorithm to deliver up to 60% electricity savings compared with a non-inverter air conditioner. It isn't a marketing label — it is the result of compressor engineering that holds an optimal speed continuously instead of cycling.
How Does Xtreme Save Work?
An ordinary non-inverter unit runs on-off: the compressor fires at full power, cools the room, shuts off, the room warms, and it fires again. That cycling is where the energy goes. Xtreme Save behaves differently:
- Phase 1: Rapid Cool — the compressor runs at high power to bring the room down quickly
- Phase 2: Maintain — it gradually eases off, drawing only the minimum needed to hold the temperature
- Phase 3: iECO Mode — when enabled, the compressor runs at the lowest workable power — up to 60% more efficient
iECO Mode — Maximum Saving
iECO is a Midea Xtreme Save exclusive that runs at the minimum power needed to hold a comfortable temperature. It is ideal for:
- Overnight — body temperature drops while you sleep, and iECO adjusts without you touching anything
- Rarely used rooms — hold a low temperature without burning electricity
- Daytime with nobody home — keep the room from heating all the way back up
How Much Can You Actually Save?
A worked example for a 150 sqft room running a Midea 1.5HP Xtreme Save:
- Old non-inverter unit: ~RM180/month (8 hours a day)
- Midea Xtreme Save: ~RM72/month (8 hours a day with iECO)
- Saving: ~RM108/month = ~RM1,296/year
Within 1 to 1.5 years, the electricity saving alone has effectively paid back the price of the new unit.
Midea Models With Xtreme Save
- Midea Xtreme Save Series — the flagship, 1.0HP to 2.5HP. Includes iECO, the Follow Me sensor and WiFi via MSmartHome.
- Midea All Easy Pro — a standard inverter with iECO mode, minus some of the premium features.
The Mission model does not carry full Xtreme Save, but it is still an inverter and still far more efficient than a non-inverter unit.
